WHY NADIA

The noise is not only a form of disorder, but a real causes of environmental pollution. It is estimated affects the health and quality of life by about 20% of the population and is even regarded as the most urgent environmental problem and the main because of worsening environmental standards for urban areas.

The NADIA project began as a tool to implement procedures for the reduction of environmental noise.

WHAT'S NADIA

It stands for Noise Abatement Demonstrative and Innovative Actions and information to the public and establishes a project co-financed by the European Commission (LIFE + 2009/ENV/IT/102 in the contract) for noise abatement in urban areas and provincial roads to lower the decibel traffic noise.

Interventions under the project will be developed from 2010 to 2013 for a total of 2,150,000 €.

WHERE'S NADIA

The project involves the provinces of Genoa and Savona, the municipalities of Vicenza and Prato, and the CIRIAF (Interuniversity Research Centre Pollution from Physical Agents) in Perugia. Urban areas and provincial roads will be mapped in order to define the critical areas with particular attention to sensitive sites (schools, nursing homes and rest, etc.). and an innovative ACTION PLAN which includes the participation of the population and key stakeholders will be implemented.
